I'd still classify myself as new to game development, but getting better at it as time goes on. I'm an artist by trade and work as a Lighting artist in a children's animation studio currently, but I have a very big interest in making games.
I've just super recently (like literally last week) started learning to make music using LMMS and I absolutely LOVE IT. It gave me such a huge sense of accomplishment when I made my first complete loop-able track. Don't get me wrong, it probably sucks compared to what others with more experience can do. But its mine, and so I love it.
I've made a few small games using RPG Maker MV, and am in the middle of making another one, but I've also decided to start delving into Game Maker Studio 1.4 and GML, as I have a license for that engine also. Wish me luck and motivation. I'll definitely need it!
